Restorative Practices

Restorative Practices

At Mitcham Primary School we use a restorative practice approach when dealing with conflicts. Restorative practice is about managing the relationships across the school community to help build, maintain, deepen and repair relationships. Earlier this year our staff completed training in the approach. You may see our restorative practices poster around the school that staff and students use as a way to navigate conversations after conflict.

The WARRM acronym is used to help guide conversations.

W - What - what happened?

A - Affected - who was affected?

R - Reflect - reflect in the impact

R - Repair - what needs to be done to repair the relationship?

M - Move forward - what can we do to move forward after this conflict?
