This term, our Prep students will embark on a captivating journey as they delve into various aspects of art and creativity. Here's a sneak peek into what your child can look forward to:
Exploring The Studio Habit of Mind (SHoM) - Observe, Looking Closely: Our young artists will kick off the term by honing their observational skills. Through engaging activities, they will learn the importance of looking closely at the world around them. Working with cardboard will provide them with a tactile experience as they explore this concept. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to peek into the world of architecture, discovering what architects do and how they observe and interpret their surroundings.
Venturing into The Studio Habit of Mind (SHoM) - Understand Art Worlds: Our Prep students will embark on virtual museum tours, taking five-minute journeys to explore museums and art galleries from around the globe. This immersive experience will expose them to diverse artistic expressions, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of art and culture.
Mastering The Studio Habit of Mind (SHoM) - Developing Craft: In this phase, students will delve into the realm of print, pattern, and repetition. They will experiment with different printing techniques, exploring how patterns and repetition can create visually striking artwork. Additionally, they will dive into the messy and joyful world of clay, discovering the endless possibilities of this versatile medium.
Grade 1-6
What an enthusiastic start we've had this term, with your children showing immense enthusiasm and energy in their artistic endeavours.
This term, the focus for Grades 1 through 6 will revolve around our ability-related choice-based program, designed to nurture your child's creative instincts and foster a deep appreciation for the arts. Providing students with the freedom to make choices in their artistic pursuits encourages greater engagement and passion for learning.
Here's a glimpse of what your child can expect to delve into throughout this term:
Exploring The Studio Habit of Mind (SHoM) - Understanding Art Worlds: Our students will embark on a journey to explore various aspects of the art world, drawing inspiration from other artists. Through virtual museum visits, they will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse artistic expressions, broadening their understanding and appreciation of different art forms. Collaboration will also be emphasised, as students learn to work together as artists, exchanging ideas and insights.
Diving into the Painting Centre: They will learn about different painting techniques, colour theory, and artistic expression. Through hands-on activities and guided instruction, they will discover their unique artistic style and develop their skills as painters.
Exploring The Studio Habit of Mind - Envision, Imagine & Plan: In this phase, students will explore the creative process from conception to execution. They will learn where artists draw their ideas from, engage in sketching and planning exercises, and unleash their imagination to ask the crucial question, "What if?" This stage is pivotal in nurturing your child's ability to envision and bring their artistic ideas to life.
