NEWSLETTER 23 April 2024
Welcome to term 2, I hope everyone had a relaxing break. The children (and teachers!!) have settled in beautifully to a new school term and there is already a great 'buzz' of learning happening in the classrooms.
On Wednesday 24 April, our senior students will lead us in our annual ANZAC day ceremony, at which we commemorate those who have been involved in war, and pray for world peace. Please join us at 11:30am in the yard for this very moving service.
Just a reminder that Friday April 26 is a school closure day - staff will be updating their First Aid qualifications and working on strategies to strengthen our Evidence Based Learning practices.
It seems very strange to be asking children to transition to the winter uniform, given the beautiful sunny autumn days that we are currently experiencing. However - I feel next week may not be so kind! We are asking that students wear the winter uniform from Monday next week - April 29.
Accessories to our Winter Uniform are our school coat (very warm and waterproof) and beanie. The beanie is available in the office for $12.
I ask for support from parents to ensure that:
❏ the school jumper is worn with the academic uniform - not the sports jacket
❏ children are wearing school shoes with the academic uniform. Runners and the sports jacket should only be worn with the sport uniform on sport/P.E. days .
❏ hair ties are in the school colours and we ask that novelty headbands not be worn to school
❏ children do not wear any jewellery (necklaces or wrist bands) as these can be a hazard when playing.
With the colder months approaching, mornings are sometimes difficult for families. Given this I would like to express the importance of students being on time, and at school on or before the bell at 8:45am. It's important for children to be present during the information sharing session that takes place in the classroom at the beginning of the school day, and to be a part of the 'morning circle' discussion with their classmates. Teachers will also use this time to discuss the layout of the day and any special events that may be occurring. When students are punctual, they are more likely to enter the classroom with a clear and open mind, ready to absorb information and engage actively in the day's curriculum.
Our 'soft starts' (children being able to enter the building at 8:35am) enables the children to gradually settle into the day. If your child chooses this option please say your 'goodbyes' as your child enters the building. Teachers, although present in the classroom in the mornings, may still be setting up for the day. If you need to speak to a teacher the best time is after school, when the teachers are all present in the school yard, or make an appointment for a more formal meeting.
Have you purchased your tickets for the Mothers' Day Lunch? Seats are limited and tickets are selling fast. Purchase your tickets from the office.
Our Mother's Day Mass this year will be hosted by our Middle Students. Mass in on Saturday, May 04 at 5:30pm.
ALL ARE WELCOME!!
