STEM

Thornbury Primary is thrilled to share the latest buzz from our Term 2 adventures in the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This term has been a whirlwind of excitement as we delved into the realm of robotics with our trusty companions, Spheros!

Our students have been jumping into the world of coding, using Spheros as their canvas for creativity. From basic commands to intricate sequences, our engineers have been mastering the art of programming to bring their Spheros to life.

What's more exhilarating than a race? A Sphero race, of course! Our students have been putting their coding skills to the test as they compete in thrilling Sphero races. From navigating obstacle courses to speeding through mazes, our racers have been showcasing their agility and problem-solving skills!

Pinewood Champion - Written by Eddie

Thornbury Primary would like to thank everyone who attended the STEM evening. We appreciate the community.  A special congratulations to Fynn Mumford of 1-2B and his father Myles who created an amazing pinewood derby car that had special floating axles and graphite as a lubricant to help the wheels spin faster. This genius construction allowed their pinewood derby car to win every race it competed in, bar one that was lost due to course issues. The proud champion raced against every other car in the competition and came out on top overall.
