Principal's Reports

Jenny Dowsett

It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of week 3 in term 2. Our students have made a great start to the term.

P&F:

Thanks to the hard work of Kristy Nielson and P&F, we have been fortunate enough to receive a $3000 grant from Bendigo Bank to purchase some outdoor seating for our students, to have additional spaces to relax and work together. The school also received a $500 grant from the Bunyip & District Community market, along with a $400 donation for our support with the BBQ at the recent market.

School Uniform:

A regular request from our students is to be allowed to have the option of navy blue basketball shorts as part of the school uniform. This has now been approved by School Council. Basketball shorts are able to be purchased from sports stores or major stores such as Beleza Uniforms, Target, Big W etc. They do not need to be purchased from the school uniform shop. Please ensure your children have their correct school uniform including school jackets. Puffer jackets are not a replacement for school uniform jackets.

Tree Works:

Thank you for your patience with the tree works this week. The tree works were the result of a recent 'safe trees audit' program managed by the Department and as a result any unsafe trees and limbs were removed and other trees were pruned. The program also includes the planting of replacement trees for each tree that was removed. The program is a 2 year program and further works will be carried out during this time.

Cross Country:

We have 28 students attending the district cross country on Monday and I am very proud of our students who have been prepared to represent our school and compete. Parent help is welcome on the day as our school has the job of marking off laps as students run.

New Facebook page:

As sent out on compass, our current Bunyip Primary School facebook page and P&F facebook page have been closed as of today. Our new page will be accessible to the broader community to help promote our school. Please use the link below:

Parent Support:

We currently have a couple of issues that I would appreciate parent support on.

Firstly, Mobile Phones: The Department of Education has implemented new policies which requires students not to have access to their mobile phones during the school day. Leaving mobile phones in a school bag does not meet the policy, as students still have access to them. Any student who needs access to a mobile phone before and after school is required to leave their phone at the school office at the start of the school day and collect it from the office at the end of the school day. Please consider if your child actually needs to have a mobile phone on school days. If they are not prepared to follow the school policy, then the phone needs to be left at home. It is very difficult to implement this policy without parent support.

Bubble Gum: Bubble gum is not allowed at school. Please ensure it does not come to school.
