Easter Raffle

Dear Holy Cross families,

We hope you had a great Easter and a relaxing break over the recent holidays.A massive thank you to all families who donated Easter goodies, and bought raffle tickets for our annual Easter hamper raffle. We had a huge number of chocolates and an array of special additions to make many hampers. In total, we raised $2,116.95. Another thank you to all PFA and family members who helped on the last day of term, without you, none of this would be possible. In relation to the ever popular Bake Sales that we have been running with specific year levels, the PFA and school staff came to a decision in yesterday’s meeting to postpone any further sales until term 4. With the weather turning and cold afternoons settling in, we decided it would be best to hold them in Term 1 & Term 4 only. More communication for future grades will be released closer to Term 4.Despite putting them on hold, they have been very successful and the classes who have raised their money so far, have put it to good use! Again, thank you to all parents who make, bake and sell the goods. It has been a huge hit and the benefits for the children and their classes have been amazing! Another topic that was discussed in yesterday’s meeting was the need for more Parent Reps. It would be more beneficial to have a parent rep for each class, instead of year level. This way, the Parent Rep can liaise directly with the teacher, who can get important information out to parents in the class via Seesaw. Classes we specifically need are the following:2B; 3A; 5B; 6A; 6B. If you think you could fill one of these roles, please contact one of the members from the PFA, or email us on the following to nominate yourself; pfa@hcnewgisborne.catholic.edu.au In some exciting news, the PFA have organised some school footy tops for our year five and sixes who play against other local schools. They will be put to great use next Tuesday!  We are currently in the works for new Basketball tops as well. It is a great way to advertise the school. A few other things that have been purchased with your generous donations are a new pie warmer for the canteen, and Ukuleles for the kids to play with in the music room. Next week, on the 9 th of May, the PFA will be running their annual Mother’s Day Stall, with gifts ranging in price up to $10. Please don’t forget to send your child with money on the day. There is a brilliant assortment of gifts this year!

The PFA is also busy with preparations for the Spring Fair in October. More information will be released as it comes available. We are looking at putting a Fair Committee together to help run it, so if that is something you are interested in, please don’t hesitate to reach out! There is a lot to get done, so any extra help would be greatly appreciated. The door is always open for new parents to join the PFA. Not only is it a rewarding experience, but a great way to feel part of the Holy Cross community. Keep an eye on the newsletter for any upcoming meetings! Have a great weekend.

Warm Regards
