And now a word from

Mrs Richards...

2024 SRC

These are the happy faces of the 2024 Student Representative Council ( SRC).  Earlier this year each of these students put their names forward to their class for consideration. They presented a speech to their class about why they would be good SRC representatives. Their peers then voted for the student they felt would best represent their views.

The SRC meet with myself and Miss Richard 3 or 4 times per term during their lunch break (they are very dedicated!).  Their role includes fundraising for both student projects and for charity, providing student input on school issues such as the toilets and the playground and promoting initiatives such as Walk or Wheels.  Each meeting begins officially with an Acknowledgement of Country which is done on a rotational basis by the students themselves. After a meeting they then report back to their class- Grade 5 and 6 reps are also allocated a Foundation or Grade 1 class to represent and report to.  Once per term the SRC sell icypoles as a fundraising activity.  They also run special activities such as free dress days and an Easter Raffle. This year they have discussed what their fundraising will be targeted towards, and they would like to install more drink taps such as the new ones in the Foundation Breezeway.

We are very grateful to work with this motivated group of students.

These students all wear their badges proudly.  When asked what they like best about being an SRC representative this is what they said:

  • “To be able to have a say in what happens at school”
  • “To stand in front of the class and let them know what is happening”
  • “Helping to make the school better”
  • “Co-operating and collecting ideas”
  • “Going to meetings and selling icypoles”
  • “Being a leader and talking to the class”
  • “Helping others”
