International Students

University Open Day Expo

Our international students had an opportunity to attend the University Open Day Expo in the State Library. This event, tailored for Year 10-12 international students, provided a platform for direct conversations with university consultants from all around Australia. It was so pleasing to see our students interacting with the consultants and actively exploring and planning their pathways beyond NHS.

We hope our students enjoyed chatting with the university consultants and received important guidance for their future path!

Whole-school assembly

We took great pride in the presence of Quan, our former international student captain and now a whole school captain, who was on stage as one of the hosts.

His heartfelt speech extended a warm welcome to our new international students, emphasizing the inclusivity that defines our school community. Here is a little profile about Quan’s aspiring journey in leadership.

“When I arrived in Australia, I was just an ordinary international student adapting to the environment and figuring out my life as it was my first time away from my family. When I discovered the leadership program at Northcote High School, it was an opportunity to venture out of my comfort zone; despite having yet to gain any previous experience, I decided to apply as an international captain in year 11. As an international captain, my team and I organised many events to help elevate and connect students from various cultures and backgrounds so everyone can feel comfortable in their new home. It taught me a lot about the importance of community and how creating a place where everybody feels like they belong is vital to their well-being in Australia. Now, being a school captain, I get to work on ways with my team to make an impact and engage everyone to strengthen the Northcote community.”

Homestay Opportunities

The homestay experience is a wonderful opportunity to build lifelong relationships with students and their families across the globe. The benefits of being a host family can make a difference in a student's life and it also provides a journey for cultural exchange.
