From the Principal

There is much to celebrate over the last fortnight after a fantastic start to Term 2.

This year, our Music students had more luck with the weather when they travelled to South Australia for the Generations of Jazz competition and had a great time. Please enjoy the article the students have written about their experience in this issue. A big thanks to the members music team for the supporting our students during the competition.

Our Volleyball teams have been attending their first competitions for the year and have had to get up very early for the bus trip to the event. For our students attending competition for the first time, it is a great opportunity to develop skills and teamwork during the competition. A big thanks to Emma Hales for her coordination of the program and the time she makes available for the events.

Over the past few weeks, I have been signing off the Work Experience forms for our Year 10 students that have been undertaking Work Experience placements. Thanks to our families for their support in securing placements in roles that fit with their desired career paths. I am pleased to see the diverse range of placements they have managed to line up and can see more opportunities that students can participate in with the flexible timing of arrangements introduced this year. I extend my appreciation to our families and local businesses that generously host our students.

In the last newsletter I gave notice about our days this Term that are student free. The first was today with our staff undertaking Berry Street training and gave our staff time to reflect on their approach to student management and developing improved learning partnerships with students. We will also have the Course Expo in Week 7. In this issue you will find more information to assist in preparing for selecting subjects for 2025.

It is great to see the Friends of Northcote Events that are currently being organised. I hope that you have calendared them. There are tickets now available for our Movie Night and I hope that families take up the opportunity to meet other families from our school and support our Friends of Northcote team.
