Australian Men’s & Mixed Netball Association Championships
Congratulations to Ben Holehouse (Year 11)
Year 11 Student Ben Holehouse has recently been selected in the Australian U17s boys netball squad, travelling to Sydney this past weekend for the first training camp. Ben was identified at the annual Australian Men’s & Mixed Netball Association Championships (AMMNA), held in Brisbane in April, where Ben captained the U17 Victorian team to win the U17’s National Championship against teams from every Australian State and Territory (excluding Northern Territory). The grand final between the Victorian and South Australian teams was a hard fought but fair game, with Victoria taking the win 62 to 61 in extra time (74 mins total).
The Victorian Men’s & Mixed Netball Association (VMMNA) has a strong male netball program, with all six Victorian teams in grand final matches in their respective age divisions at the AMMNA Championships. At this elite level, male netball is strategic, dynamic and a physically demanding sport, which set Ben up well for his Australian squad selection.
The VMMNA season will start back at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in August, where Victorian members of the Australian Kelpies (and Australian u23s, u20s and u17s) can also be seen playing in their domestic teams.
Congratulations Ben on these two outstanding achievements.
