From the Principal

A Great Start to the Year!

To the Blue Mountains Grammar School Community,

I hope this message finds you well as we begin another academic year. Seeing the enthusiasm with which our students, parents, and staff have embraced the opportunities and challenges of the new year brings me great satisfaction. Reflecting on the past weeks, I am genuinely grateful for the strong foundation for a successful and enriching year ahead.

First and foremost, I would like to thank our parents and caregivers for the high expectations you have set regarding uniform, attendance, and behaviour. Your commitment to these standards has not gone unnoticed by our team. Your partnership in fostering a positive and self-disciplined learning environment contributes significantly to the overall success of our school community. Thank you!

Moving forward, I want to remind you that we have decided that the Newsletter will be distributed fortnightly, allowing us to capture a broader range of events and activities over a more extended period. This adjustment will enable us to provide you with a more comprehensive and insightful overview of life at our School.

Moreover, each edition will provide a leading article centred around our School's core values and behaviours. Engaging our community in discussions about who we are, what we stand for, and what we aim to achieve is paramount to our collective growth and success. Over this year, we will delve into various topics, including but not limited to:

  1. Cognitive Overload: Exploring strategies to manage cognitive load in learning environments.
  2. Student Agency: Empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey.
  3. Celebrating Small Wins: Recognizing the value of acknowledging and celebrating incremental achievements.
  4. Wellbeing Dogs: Understanding how wellbeing dogs can enhance the learning experience of our students.
  5. BMGS Strategic Plan: Providing insights into developing and implementing our School's strategic plan.

Please actively engage with these discussions and share your thoughts and insights as we work towards nurturing a vibrant and inclusive school culture. We will have opportunities for you to join us in person, perhaps over some cheese and wine, so that everyone in our community can engage with our plans and ideas. Watch out for the invitation from Mr Chris Sanders, our Director of Innovative Pedagogy, in the coming weeks.

Once again, I thank each member of our community for your support and commitment to the success of Blue Mountains Grammar School. We will continue valuing excellence and fostering lifelong learning among our students and community.

Warm regards,

Steven Coote

Principal
