Cleveland Street - traffic reminder
Despite Lalor East PS distributing numerous requests, unfortunately we still continue to see parents and care givers display unsafe and illegal traffic and parking manoeuvres in Cleveland Street daily. This raises serious concerns about the safety of our school community. We understand that everyone is busy, however, allowing an extra few minutes to safely clear the school grounds is not an unreasonable request.
Please do not park outside the signed zones.
Please do not do U-turns in Cleveland Street or in driveways near the school. Instead, drive further up Cleveland Street to turn around safely away from the school, and either park and walk to the school, or wait patiently in the queue to use the 'kiss and drop' zone.
Do not leave your car if you are in the 'kiss and drop' zone. As the name implies, this 'kiss and drop' zone is designed to be an area where traffic regularly moves smoothly, where cars queue patiently and drop off or pick up their students safely (from the kerbside only). Cars using this area should only be there for less than two minutes. If your children are not there within two minutes, please move on and return safely to the back of the queue to wait for them, as there are times when your students may be a bit late in leaving the school grounds.
If you would like to meet your children, do not use the 'kiss and drop' area. Please park elsewhere in a safe and legal parking area.
Local council also patrol these areas, and the fines for infringements are expensive.
2024 Parent Payments
A friendly reminder for families regarding 2024 Parent Payments, which is a letter that details the amount per student to cover the cost of school supplies and on-line subscriptions that the students require per year level. The Parent Payment letters are available in Compass on the newsfeed, or available to pick up from the Office. To date, less than half of our families have made payments.
A reminder to those families who receive a Smith Family Scholarship, that the scholarship funds are expected to be used towards these payments.
If a family would like to contribute to the school to 'donate' a booklist for a family who cannot afford to pay, please reach out to the office who will kindly process this donation.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is now open at 8:20am. Students who are eating at Breakfast Club are able to enter the school grounds through the small gate next to OSHC.
If students are not visiting the Breakfast Club to eat breakfast, they cannot enter the school grounds until 8:45am, as there are no staff available before this time to supervise in the school grounds.
Students can receive a free breakfast of toast, cereal, milk and fruit before beginning their busy day of learning. Breakfast Club wishes to acknowledge the kind support from Bakers Delight-Mernda Village, Christina Bakery and Foodbank Victoria.
Planned Absences
Students who will be absent for two or more weeks need to advise their teacher at least one week in advance, in order for homework to be organised if required.

For entry during school hours, please press the intercom on the right hand side of the gate and someone will assist you. Please do not touch, hold, try to push open or stand on gates as it is very expensive to repair.
