Musical Production

MGC is pleased to announce, in collaboration with Origin Theatrical, that our Musical Production for 2024 is the classic “The Sound of Music”. 

When? Term 3, Week 5, 4 evening performance. 

Tuesday 13th August-Friday 16th August. 

Where? MGC Theatre, from 7.30pm. 

Auditions begin next week, Week 4, and due to our inclusive policy, everyone who auditions gets in! 

Callbacks are for casting our leads, beginning Week 7. 

Our MGC Orchestra will be performing the professional score, and they rehearse Wednesdays before school. 

Our Crew this year will be selected from our Year 10 Event Management Students.

Term 1. 

Auditions, Callbacks and Casting. 

Term 2. 

Rehearsals. 

Mondays afterschool for all students in Cast and Chorus, 3.30-4.30pm. 

Thursdays afterschool for Cast only, 3.30-4.30pm. 

Term 3. 

Revision and Run throughs, both Monday and Thursdays afterschool, all required. 

NB: There is no mention of the word “Nazi” in the script and we will not be showing any insignia or salute. Students taking on roles will be supported as to how to portray their characters with sensitivity. We believe “The Sound of Music” is a celebration of the true story of the Von Trapp family and we recognize that the issue of standing up to fascism is still relevant today.
