Principal's Report

NAPLAN

During week 7 and 8, our year 5 and 3 students will be participating in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy NAPLAN) .  NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance which are carried out at regular intervals throughout the year, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. If you have any concerns about your child sitting the NAPLAN tests, please contact your child's teacher via Compass BEFORE Wednesday 13th of March.

Cross Country

Well done to students for demonstrating  our school values at the whole school cross country on Thursday. Learning was demonstrated through persistence, resilience, cooperation and self confidence. Positivity was demonstrated through optimism, inclusion, enthusiasm, tolerance and a positive growth mindset and Safety was demonstrated through respect for others, personal safety and trust. I was most impressed with those students who just didn't give up and even though some found it challenging both physically and mentally, they were really proud of their personal efforts.  There are two things you can always control, your attitude and your effort.

School Council

Thank you to Ben Colquhoun and Daniel Young for nominating to join LPS School Council. No election process was required.  We look forward to welcoming you to our team. Our next School Council meeting is on Tuesday 19th of March at 6.30pm.

Whole School Breakfast

On Monday 25th of March we will be celebrating all our hard work of term 1 with a whole school breakfast. With thanks to the generosity of the Lancefield community and Lancefield Bakery we will be providing all students with a healthy breakfast at the start of the school day. Further information will be provided closer to the day.

Year 6 Leaders

Our year 6 leaders are in training to assist with school tours. This week Finley, Evie and Thomas did an amazing job of proudly presenting our school to very impressed  prospective parents. After some discussions and a couple of walk throughs, these students really stepped up and spoke with great knowledge and pride in our school. I am really looking forward to working with the next group of students who will be conducting a tour before the end of term.

Thank you to those who have already made a donation for our annual Easter Raffle. Tickets are available for $2 each and the hampers will be drawn on Thursday 28th of March at the last assembly for term 1.
