STEM

What a whirlwind few weeks it has been in the STEM classroom. In Prep we have been learning which items are magnetic (or not!) by using some magnets to test various objects around the school. They have also been learning about the forces of push and pull (and some of you may have been lucky enough to welcome their handmade toys home this week)

The 1/2s have been playing with magnets as well and learning which materials are magnetic or not. They have been lucky enough to be participating in an online workshop via Quantum Victoria about Forces which they will finish next week. 3/4s have been delving into the realm of physics, using their knowledge of forces to design, build and launch water rockets across the school oval.

5/6s have had a look at magnets and used iron filings to investigate the magnetic field of various magnets. They have also looked very briefly at simple machines and this week and next they are learning about the engineering designs of bridges for strength and stability.
