Principal's Message

Mr Cameron Jones - Principal

Meet the Teacher Evening

Thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to come and meet their child’s teacher last Thursday. It was another wonderful school event that had a brilliant community feel. As a staff, we are committed to maintaining those strong relationships and working in partnership with you for the betterment of our students.

Thank you to the many P&C volunteers who did a great job on the BBQ!

Smart Watches

We have had a few instances of children using smart watches at school over the past week. Your child’s classroom teacher went through the below last Thursday evening:

  • Children can wear smart watches to school.
  • All smart watches have the capacity to be switched to airplane mode for certain hours (ie 8.30am - 3.00pm) from a parent device. This needs to happen for your child to wear their smart watch to school.
  • No child should be directly contacting their parents via message or phone call during the school day from a smart watch.
  • It is important that they learn to come to a teacher if they need assistance.

Please help us by reviewing your child's smart watch settings or keeping the watch at home.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Swimming Carnival

There was plenty of action in the pool at our annual swimming carnival with some brilliant performances. To single out one great performance, well done to Ashley in Year 3 who broke a school record in the 8 years 50m freestyle!

There was also a great spirit of having a go amongst our students. Unfortunately, many students had to be assisted from the water. As a former swimming coach, can I please strongly encourage families to keep their children in lessons until they are strong, confident swimmers. This is very different to children just being able to play in a backyard pool safely. As students progress into high school and enjoying the beach with friends it is vital that they are strong swimmers to stay safe.

Maybe now is the time to pick up swimming lessons again. Food for thought.

School Gates

Please be aware that for the time being the school gates (driveway and pedestrian) will be closed throughout the school day. The gates will not be locked and if you need to either drive in or walk into the school, I ask that you close the gate behind you. Should you need any assistance opening the gate, please contact the school office.

Attendance

It has been a great start to the year in terms of student attendance. Thank you to all families who are getting their child to school on time. As we know regular attendance for the whole day makes a drastic impact on learning outcomes. I look forward to being able to share with you regular updates on student attendance throughout the year. Keep up the great work.
