A Note From Kirrily

I’ve been thinking about how even though the season of summer has finished, we are still having such lovely warm days! Getting out in the sun has been proven to increase serotonin levels in the brain – the ‘feel good’ hormone. What simple ways can you increase your time out in the sun before the winter season begins? We live in such a beautiful area with many options for walks and hikes, where is your favourite place to go? I’d love to hear from you about any walks or adventures I should try!

May you have an awesome long weekend and enjoy some sunshine (perhaps though this weekend we are getting a bit more than we bargained for when it comes to heat!). Please know I’m here if you have anything you would like to chat about or want assistance in, you can reach me via seesaw or email me at kirrily.munyard533@schools.sa.edu.au.

Courier Cup

Congratulations to Gus and Ada Brodie-Tyrrell who competed in the Courier Cup and represented our school.

On the 29th of February Gus and I went to Mountain Pool to represent the school in swimming. Gus did two races (Freestyle and Backstroke) and I did freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. It was strange swimming in that pool because a standard pool is 25m but that pool was 30m. There was a massive crowd there and our group of two looked tiny in comparison to the other schools who sometimes had around thirty kids. We didn’t warm up in the pool because we would only tire ourselves out. So, when we hit the water, it felt freezing for about two seconds. The girls' 12 yr freestyle had so many kids swimming that I thought I would come near last. There were two districts swimming there, Hills and Barker. We were part of Hills, but we raced against everyone. The funniest thing that happened was that in my last race, butterfly, I was the only person in my heat from Hills so even if I touched last I still would have come first in my heat. We had a great time swimming and we were being really gritty getting up against everyone else. We cheered on each other and had a blast. Ada Brodie-Tyrell

Meet the members - every newsletter we introduce 2 members of P and F:

Jess Gerrard

Hi, my name is Jess and I have a daughter in Year 2 and a son at Uraidla kindy. I joined the P&F last year as a way to meet other parents and families and give back to our wonderful school. A P&F highlight last year was bringing the community together for our first school Art Show. The P&F are a welcoming, fun group of parents and our fundraising makes a meaningful contribution to school projects and learning experiences for our kids.

Tess Lindh

Hi! My name is Tess and I joined the P&F last year. I have 2 kids, Winnie who is in year 1 and George who will start Kindy next year.

I have loved being a part of the P&F as it allows me to contribute when I can and bring some great events to life that give our kids some wonderful opportunities as well as bringing the school community together. It’s a great group of parents and a great way to meet some wonderful people and be involved in the school!
