Stage 2 News

Hello wonderful Martin’s Gully community!

Stage 2 have had a fabulous first 4 weeks of learning together in the Wombats and Bilbies. We have gotten into our routines, and begun to do some really sweaty, big brain learning!

In English we have been looking at the Roald Dahl classic Fantastic Mr Fox. We have been writing in the style of Roald Dahl, and learning how Roald Dahl maintains interest and suspense in a narrative.

During Maths we have had the support of the fabulous Mrs Polson to continue developing our number sense and place value, and this week we have started working on strategies for addition and subtraction.

In our Science lessons with Mrs Diederick, we are looking at Plants in Action.  Stage 2 got out there this week and weeded the veggie patch to get ready to plant some seeds (when they germinate!).

In Art we learnt about Maragret Preston, and then were inspired to create our own still life painting using chalk pastels.  Have a look at how beautifully they turned out!

Another special time for Stage 2 is nature journaling on Friday afternoons.  Our students have chosen a space in the Nature Area to sit quietly and write or draw.  This has become our favourite time of the week, and a chance for students to wind down and practice some mindfulness while connecting with nature.  We love it!

Have a great week MGPS!
