We are continuing to monitor the weather, air quality and students regarding our 3 to 6 Swimming Sports and are hopeful that we might be able to hold them this coming Tuesday (5th March). Once we have confirmation that "all our ducks are in a row", we will get updated information out to parents.
As I reflect on the past 7 days, I am so thankful to work in a community that shows continual support to each other, especially in challenging times.
When going back to last Thursday, when fires commenced, a large number of messages were sent to parents and decisions were made (based on our Emergency Management Plan, Vic Emergency notifications and DoE Central Control), to ensure we kept all students safe and supported. We want to reiterate with parents, when emergencies, like what we faced on Thursday, happen, your children will be safe at school until you are able to pick them up. When the "Prepare to Evacuate" came through, we had buses arrive at school, ready to load and go if needed. I thank all families for getting to school, or making arrangements, as quickly as you could.
Today, we wait to see what happens and we hope, whole heartedly, that our students, families and community stay safe.
Personally, I would like to thank all our parents and past students who are out on the fire front, or offering supports of any kind, who are doing everything possible to contain this fire. To the volunteer CFA and other agencies who are working day in, day out to ensure the safety of our families houses, properties and the community, WE THANK YOU!.
Please see the next page for Bushfire Preparation and Supports that we can offer.
Due to being "Closed" today, and the unpredictable weather this afternoon, I will continue to await the directive from the Department of Education around whether we will be "Open" tomorrow. This decision is made higher up the chain than I, and I have to await directive before knowing what is happening. Once I get this information, I will get it out to you all.
Whilst the football oval is being used by the emergency services, please do not use this area for drop off or pick up. I also request that parents DO NOT use the bus circle for drop off or pick up. This area must be kept clear of traffic between 8.30 -9.30am and 3.00pm-4.00pm. This is for the safety of all our students.
This area must also remain clear when there are emergencies, allow space for emergency services or buses to have space to operate. Parents are welcome to drop off in the Park Road service road, the car park or down at the kinder area (then walk up the back path).
Due to the events over the past week, classes will not be providing a newsletter update this week.
We have school photos next Thursday, 7th March. This year, orders need to be placed through their online platform. This information has been shared on XUNO. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the office.
Stay Safe everyone, and please reach out if you require any supports.
