What's happening in our classroom?

Literacy

Over the next two weeks students will be working on the following:

  • thinking deeply about a text to answer text-dependent questions
  • building tier two vocabulary knowledge
  • learning to upgrade action and speaking verbs within a sentence and expanding our sentences using verb phrases
  • writing descriptive paragraphs and providing an illustrations

Numeracy

In the next two weeks students will begin exploring fractions as part of their maths learning. This will include representing halves, quarters and thirds of shapes, counting in halves, quarters and thirds and converting mixed numerals to improper fractions.

Inquiry

This term in Inquiry students will be exploring the unit titled 'The Game of Life'. This unit will cover ethics, customs, hobbies, sports and people who are important in their lives. They will learn about which health messages in the media are safe to trust and how to make positive choices. Students will understand how their identity is unique and is formed by many things including their family and their culture.

Well-being

Over the next two weeks we will be working on:

  • exploring what makes us stressed

  • responding to stress

  • recognising positive and negative emotions

Reminders

At Skye Primary School we know that every school day counts!

When students attend school consistently, they stay engaged in learning, build strong friendships, and develop positive routines that set them up for future success.

Missing just a few days here and there may not seem like much, but over time, it adds up and can make it harder for children to keep up with their learning and feel connected to their peers. Of course, we understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable due to illness, but wherever possible, we encourage families to prioritise consistent attendance.

Thank you for working with us to support your child’s learning and well-being. If you need any support in ensuring regular attendance, please reach out—we’re here to help!

Celebration of Learning

Scrap-booking Afternoon

Thank you to all our family and friends that came in to join us for our scrap-booking afternoon last week. It was a huge success with so many people joining our class.

Kitchen Garden

This week in Kitchen Garden we made zucchini slice, apple tart and salad!

All made with fresh ingredients from our Skye garden :-)
