Principal's Message

What a couple of weeks at ENPS!
There has been so much going on in and around our classrooms. We’ve had the Year Four to Six Swimming Carnival, our first senior and junior school assemblies and even yesterday recognised and celebrated our first Student of the Week ‘lunch with the principal’ recipients! Yusuke (6MP) and Georgia (5EG) were the first to receive a free lunch order and got to bring a friend along to have lunch with me yesterday, and it was a hoot!
I look forward to next Thursday and having lunch with our first F-2 junior school recipients, Jake (1NV) and Leo (2LK)! This new initiative is a part of our modified Student of the Week awards, and recognises the safe, kind and respectful efforts of students in their home groups and in specialist classes. Each week at our assembly, two names will be drawn out from those who have received recognition for being safe, kind and/or respectful in specialist classes. The prize being a free two course lunch order from Classroom Cuisine and lunch with the Principal.
The Home and School Partnership meetings on Monday were also absolutely fantastic and feedback from families and teachers was overwhelmingly positive. A huge thank you to all of our families. Your support of an early dismissal made these meetings possible and it was incredible to see close to 100% attendance from families. What a great way to start the year together. Our partnership with you at home is integral to support your child’s learning growth and development and we truly value your support. At these meetings your child’s teacher has shared their academic and attendance data with you, along with ways you can help support their learning at home. If you weren’t able to make the home and school partnership meeting with your child’s teacher, please contact them directly to make a time soon.
We have also had a lot happening around the grounds of ENPS. Ms Myszka, Ms Morgan and Ms De Angelis have done a remarkable effort in getting all of our students to paint their hand print on our school values mural. Make sure you check out the all the photos over on the Arts page!
Staffing
In staffing news, we have now finalised the recruitment process for the Year One classroom teacher for 1JS. From next week we will welcome Amy McDonald to the Year One teaching team and 1JS. Amy joins us with extensive experience from Merri-bek and Oak Park Primary Schools. A huge thank you to Brendan Newman who had been filling in since the beginning of the year in 1JS, following the unexpected and extended illness of Jemma Strbac Low. Jemma has now finished up with us at ENPS and we thank her for her contributions and commitment over the past three years.
We also have welcomed new members to our Education Support Team. Eliza Pitman has re-joined our ES team, while Jessica Carter will join us from next week in temporary positions as we undertake the recruitment process for these positions. We have also welcomed some new faces undertaking placements with us at ENPS; Mamta Dhingra has joined 2CE on an ES placement, Kirsty Johnson has joined 1MV and FLT on a Teacher Re-Engagement placement, while next week Gloria Camorani will join 1MH as an ongoing volunteer.
Welcome to all of our new staff joining the ENPS team!
Swimming Carnival
Last week our Year Four to Six students participated in our swimming carnival. It was a great day and congratulations to Baan House as the 2025 Swimming Champions! We now have 17 students competing in the District Swimming Carnival next Wednesday at Keilor Park Leisure Centre. We wish them all luck and are super proud of their efforts as representatives of our school.
Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Revisions
You may have seen throughout the media, that the Victorian Department of Education has begun implementing extensive curriculum revisions across all learning areas this year. Already at ENPS we have begun the process of aligning these updates and revisions (as they are released) with our pedagogical approach to learning and teaching, curriculum implementation and subsequent assessment and reporting practices. Throughout 2025 you will see a particular revision of our English and Mathematics curriculum. In our next newsletter we will begin to unpack what these revisions will look like and what to expect moving forward in 2025. Our Year Level Information Flyers are a great way to get an insight into what is happening already in your child's class.
Year Level Information Flyers
This week, you may have seen year level teams have started sending home their Unit of Inquiry flyers. Our teaching teams put a huge amount of work into these flyers to provide parents and carers with an insight into the learning and teaching happening in classrooms for the upcoming unit. These flyers also include key year level information, along with specific strategies for supporting your child's learning at home.
Communication with Families
Clear and transparent communication with families is paramount for us at ENPS and is seen as a shared responsibility. For this purpose we request that families make sure they are checking our Compass updates regularly, as our primary platform for all communication.
School Council
We had a wonderful School Council meeting this week. You would have seen that we have sent out a ‘call for nominations’ to be a part of School Council for 2025. Check out the School Council section for more information. Make sure you come along to the Community Picnic this afternoon and meet our School Councillors!
Start of Year Community Picnic
I am looking forward to seeing everyone this afternoon at our Start of Year Community Picnic. Our ENPS School Council host this event and everyone is welcome. Bring a picnic dinner, a picnic blanket, chairs and enjoy an afternoon chatting to other parents and staff, while the kids play together. There is no cost involved and you can stay for as long or little amount of time as you like!
Have a wonderful weekend and see you all next week.
