Student Leadership

Yesterday, at the annual Student Leaders' Induction Service, we formally commissioned our Year Twelve and Year Six student leaders. We also charged the entire Year Twelve cohort with leadership in their final year of formal schooling.

A special part of the service was celebrating our Pre-Primary and Year One students as they officially take their place as members of our learning community.

The gift of leadership is of critical importance as it shapes our collective journey of renewal, aspiration and hope as a school.

The definition of leadership at Great Southern Grammar can be described as follows:

  • Leadership is an individual expression of the heart and mind that awakens new opportunities in self and others.
  • Leadership is about navigating difficulties and providing clarity of what is important.
  • Leadership is about serving others with wisdom, grace and humility.
  • Leadership is not just a title or a badge, it is for everyone.
  • Leadership is about inspiring and guiding others toward a shared future.

This year, we have created a vision for our school:

All Great Southern Grammar students and graduates are beacons of light in

the world, having a positive, lasting impact in their communities

for the common good.

This is our expression of leadership in action and acknowledges that leadership resides within every student at GSG.

A blessing for leaders and all students:

May you have the grace and wisdom to act kindly,

May you never put yourself at the centre of things

May you act not from arrogance but out of service

May you learn to cultivate the art of presence

May leadership be for you

A true adventure of growth.

Go well
