Gospel Reflection

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Summary

In this passage, Jesus teaches about love, kindness, and forgiveness. He tells His followers to love their enemies, do good to those who hurt them, and treat others the way they want to be treated. Jesus explains that it’s easy to be kind to people who are nice to us, but true kindness means showing love even when it’s difficult. He also reminds us not to judge others and to forgive so that we can also be forgiven.

Reflection

Loving our friends is easy, but Jesus challenges us to love even those who are difficult or unkind. This doesn’t mean we have to be best friends with them, but we should still treat them with kindness and respect. Forgiving others can be hard, especially when they hurt us, but Jesus reminds us that God is always ready to forgive us, so we should do the same for others. When we choose love, kindness, and generosity, we help make the world a better place.

  • How can you show kindness to someone who isn’t always kind to you?
  • What does forgiveness look like in your life?

Gospel Reading: Luke 6:27-38

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I say this to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly. To the man who slaps you on one cheek, present the other cheek too; to the man who takes your cloak from you, do not refuse your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your property back from the man who robs you. Treat others as you would like them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what thanks can you expect?

Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks can you expect? For even sinners do that much. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks can you expect? Even sinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount. Instead, love your enemies and do good, and lend without any hope of return. You will have a great reward, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

‘Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate. Do not judge, and you will not be judged yourselves; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned yourselves; grant pardon, and you will be pardoned. Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap; because the amount you measure out is the amount you will be given back.’

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Help me to love others, even when it’s hard. Teach me to be kind, forgiving, and generous, just as You are.

Give me the strength to treat others with respect and to always choose love over hate.

Amen.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our School Community

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Opening Mass. It was a beautiful way to come together in faith and celebrate the beginning of the school year as a community. Seeing so many families, staff, and students present, sharing in this special occasion, truly highlighted the strength and spirit of our school.

A special thank you to our wonderful Grade 6 students, who led with such confidence and pride, and to the staff who helped prepare them. Your leadership set a fantastic example for our younger students.

We are also incredibly grateful to the team who generously prepared the BBQ for our school community. Your kindness and hard work did not go unnoticed and added to the warmth and joy of the evening.

Moments like these remind us of the power of coming together, supporting one another, and embracing the values that make our school so special. Thank you for being a part of it— we look forward to many more opportunities to share, grow, and celebrate with you throughout the year!

With gratitude,

Kimberley & Miggy
