A message from Margie

Thank you!
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for your ongoing support and understanding as we have managed the issue of potentially contaminated sand on site this week. The sand has now been removed, and the areas it was used have been deep cleaned by the Department for Education Asset Services.
Your trust in us to ensure the safety and well-being of your children means a great deal to us. Thank you! 🙏
Uraidla's Got Talent
Our students have been busy putting the INNOVATIVE theme into practice this fortnight.
Over the past two weeks, we have been entertained and inspired by the creativity and courage on display during our very own Uraidla’s Got Talent competition. Students eagerly signed up for a performance slot, dedicated time outside of school to practise, and amazed us all with their unique talents.
I am incredibly proud of our brave performers, who demonstrated not only their skills but also the confidence to take the stage in front of their peers. Their willingness to be vulnerable and share their talents is truly impressive—I know I would not have had the confidence to do the same in Primary School!
Across five lunchtimes last week, we enjoyed a wonderful variety of acts, including singing, drumming, dancing, drawing, mime, and instrumental duets. What a talented group of students we have at Uraidla! Each day, a panel of judges had the very challenging job of scoring the performances.
This Wednesday, we held the finals and celebrated all participants, with special recognition for our winners:
First place: Layla, Maddi, Shae, Tilly and Ruby with a fabulous choreographed dance
Second place: Alfie and Ezra with an amazing mime number
Tied for third place: Gus and Fletcher playing Mission Impossoble on piano and drums, and Bella and Kimberly singing a lovely duet.
Thank you to Troy for organising this event for our students, and congratulations to everyone who took part, and made this event such a memorable highlight of our school year.
Social Media changes
Have you heard the news? The Australian Government is taking big steps to help keep young people safer online, with new laws introducing a minimum age for accessing social media. From 10 December 2025, social media platforms will be required to take reasonable steps to prevent anyone under 16 from having an account.
The important thing to note is that this responsibility sits with the social media companies— not with parents, carers or young people themselves. However, it’s a great opportunity to have a chat with your children about these changes so they understand why they’re happening and how this might affect them.
I’ve included some links below with all the information you and your family might need to navigate this important change:
As we wrap up this week, I find myself reflecting on how quickly time passes. My eldest daughter is getting married this weekend, and it feels as though only yesterday she was at primary school herself. These years with your children truly are precious, and while it’s a bit of a cliché, they really do go by so quickly. I hope you find joy in your time together as a family this fortnight! 😊
