Principal's Message
Ms Grace Carlo-Stella
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is hard to believe we have already reached the midpoint of Term 4. The year is moving quickly, and every week seems filled with new milestones and moments of growth.
Yesterday, we had the joy of welcoming our Kindergarten 2026 students to our school for their first transition session. These students, who will graduate from St Margaret Mary’s in 2032, bring so much excitement and possibility. Welcoming new families—and siblings of our existing families—is always a special time. Many spoke about choosing our school because of the positive reputation we have in the community and because they have heard great things about the learning, culture, and care that takes place here. This is a testament to our students, staff, and you—our parent community. Thank you for the way you speak about our school and for the pride you show in our community.
I would also like to thank the many parents who consistently support us in ensuring that their child comes to school ready to learn. Working together, we help our children feel safe, supported, and successful.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in incidents of disrespectful behaviour from a small number of students towards staff and one another. While our school celebrates students’ strengths and achievements, we also have very clear expectations around behaviour. Disrespect—towards staff, students, or school property—will not be tolerated.
We do not contact parents for every minor incident that occurs; however, when we do make contact, it is because we need your partnership to support your child. We ask that you reinforce at home the importance of:
These expectations apply whether a child is in Kindergarten or preparing for graduation in Year 6. If school property is deliberately damaged, families will be asked to contribute to the cost of repair or replacement.
We teach our students that respect is demonstrated through actions: kindness, listening, responsibility, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Your support in reinforcing this message at home makes a significant difference.
Thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and trust. Together, we will continue to ensure that St Margaret Mary’s remains a place of excellence—where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.

Kind regards,
Grace Carlo-Stella
