Messages from School Council

Hello Alvie PS Community,
We’d like to take a moment to update you on the discussions held at our most recent School Council meeting on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.
Buildings and Grounds: There has been a lot of Buildings and Grounds works undertaken this year and many of you will have noticed the new toilet blocks in the courtyard area. Over the coming weeks we should see the completion of plumbing and electrical works. A big shout out also to all the volunteers that contributed on the working bee day to help get the space ready for the new toilets. It was a great turn out and the many hands made light work.
The wellbeing space is also receiving a facelift following the removal of the cupboard and shelving. Other works around the grounds include some repairs and maintenance to the tennis court fencing and sports shed roller doors.
Fundraising: After trying weather conditions delayed the Warrion Flower Show this year, we still managed $200 profit for the day. Many thanks to all that contributed produce and helped man the stall on the day. It was great to see lots of little Alvie faces enjoying the day.
A reminder that the W.G.A.C toilet paper fundraiser is on again. Funding will go towards much needed furniture upgrades in the senior learning spaces.
Unfortunately due to some hurdles, Alvie PS will no longer be hosting the Tom Curtain show. The March 2026 show will still be going ahead at the Colac Showgrounds and the School Council have discussed the possibility of running a food stall on the day.
General Business: We are pleased with the news that Alvie PS are earmarked to receive a Gallipoli lone pine in February 2026 . This has sparked the idea of a proposed reflection/memorial space in the South West corner of the school near the existing oak tree.
And lastly the School Council pass their best wishes on to Jess Milner who has been a valuable member of our school and will be dearly missed by all. All the best for the future Jess!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community!
Kind regards,
Ben Beale
