Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
PBL Wrap-Up for 2025
This year our PBL focus has continued to strengthen a safe, respectful and engaged learning environment. Students were taught our behaviour expectations and recognised regularly for showing them in classrooms and the playground. Our data-informed approach has helped us stay proactive and consistent across the school.
Thank you to students, staff and families for supporting our PBL expectations throughout 2025 — we look forward to building on this positive momentum in 2026.
Student Wellbeing and Respectful Relationships
Our focus on student wellbeing and engagement continues to be a key priority at Goondiwindi State School.
Including:
- House Competitions: Students are actively participating in house-based events, fostering teamwork, healthy competition, and school spirit.
- Respectful Relationships: Programs promoting positive interactions and emotional wellbeing are ongoing, supporting students to build strong, respectful connections with peers and staff.
Student Voice and Leadership: Opportunities for students to express their opinions and contribute to school decisions continue to expand. This includes active participation in the Student Council, leadership roles, and various forums where student input shapes school initiatives.
These programs aim to strengthen a sense of belonging, engagement, and personal responsibility, ensuring all students feel valued and empowered within our school community.
Chappy News
Lions Christmas Appeal
Our Chappy is once again supporting the collection of items for the Lions Christmas Appeal, helping local families who may be doing it tough over the holiday season. We are inviting our school community to contribute non-perishable food items, toiletries, small gifts and festive treats.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office or with Chappy each morning. All items will be passed on to the Lions Club for distribution in Christmas hampers to families in need. Thank you for your generosity and for helping spread kindness in our community this Christmas.
Festive Feels
Chappy has been busy creating beautiful Christmas trees for students to decorate and enjoy in our school and classrooms. Keep an eye out for them as you walk around — they’re already bringing a sense of enjoyment and Christmas cheer to our spaces! Each class will also be decorating their own tree, adding to the fun throughout the school. Some of the trees will be displayed at the town library prior to Christmas.
SPORT
Swimming concludes this Friday, 5 December. Thank you to all students who have participated in swimming lessons this term. It has been fantastic to see so many of our students in the water, learning such an important life skill.
Well done to all students who participated throughout the year in all aspects of sport — your effort and enthusiasm have been amazing.
Swimming will commence again in Term 1 next year. Please keep an eye out for dates and times early next term.
Playgroup
Miss Casey Simpson and Mrs Donna Norman are our Playgroup Teachers.
Wednesdays 9am to 10:30am. Follow the Red Flags at the Prep Precinct. Bring your GREAT Mates hat, morning tea and a water bottle (and a parent)!!
We've had Super Heros, Australian Animals and 'When I Grow Up.." weeks since our last chat. I think our favourite activities were, "Free the frozen Super Heros!" , "Spikey Echidnas", "Ninja Turtle Masks" oh and of course a visit from our very own Captain Great!!!
This week will be our final Playgroup session this year and will be our CHRISTMAS WEEK. Please feel free to dress in some Christmas clothes and join in the fun.
Mrs Norman and Miss Simpson would like to thank all our wonderful Great Mates and their families for coming on this journey with us again this year. We hope you have had as much fun as we have and MERRY CHRISTMAS.
