Principal's message

Dear Families,
Celebrating Our School Community
As we move toward the end of the year, I want to pause and express how incredibly proud I am of every member of our school community. Each day, I see the dedication, care and commitment shown by our students, our Student Support Officers, Bilingual Support Workers, Pastoral Care Worker, grounds’ person, teachers, leaders, and every other person who contributes to the very important work that we do. Schools thrive because of the collective effort of many, and I am continually inspired by what we achieve together.
On Friday, 14th November, I was again reminded of this. We celebrated two special events that highlighted both our school’s growth and the spirit of our learners.
First, we officially opened our refurbished administration building and beautified garden spaces. These improvements are more than just physical changes— they reflect our commitment to creating welcoming, functional spaces where students, families and staff can connect, learn and feel proud of their school.
Our second celebration was the Premier’s Reading Challenge assembly. For those new to the Challenge, it is a South Australian initiative that encourages students to read a set number of books each year, helping them build a lifelong love of reading. The Challenge recognises not just the completion of books, but the joy, curiosity and learning that come from reading regularly. It was wonderful to acknowledge students who have embraced reading so enthusiastically.
Of course, students’ success in reading does not happen by chance. It is the result of dedicated educators who teach the essential skills of reading day in and day out, guiding students from early decoding right through to deep comprehension and critical thinking. It is also the result of parents, caregivers and families, who so often nurture a love of stories from the time children are babies—reading before bedtime, visiting libraries, sharing favourite books and modelling the joy that reading brings.
As we reflect on our whole community and these celebrations, I am reminded of how important it is for communities to come together to share these moments. Schools are, in many ways, a modern village—and our village is wonderfully diverse. We are enriched by families from many cultural backgrounds; by students and adults with diverse neurodevelopmental profiles; and by individuals with a range of physical strengths, talents and needs. This diversity is not just something we appreciate—it is something that makes us stronger.
When we stand together, celebrate together, and work together for the benefit of the children in our care, we build a community that truly supports every learner to thrive.
Thank you for being such an important part of our village.
