Principal's Report

As we enter the midst of another busy and vibrant term, it is wonderful to reflect on the achievements, events, and learning that continue to make Brentwood Secondary College such a thriving community.

Track and Field Success

Congratulations to our outstanding Track and Field team who represented Brentwood SC at the EMR Athletics Carnival on 13 October. Our athletes performed exceptionally well, achieving 29 podium finishes and securing 3rd place overall out of all participating schools in the region—a fantastic result!

A number of our students qualified for the SSV State Track and Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium on Monday 20 October where they competed at the highest level and represented our school with pride.

Spring Concert – A Celebration of Talent

On Monday 20 October, our Performing Arts students took to the stage for our annual Spring Concert. The day event featured a full program of musical performances, showcasing the breadth of talent across our ensembles—from strings and concert bands to jazz, vocal and rock groups.

As always families and friends came along and enjoyed this wonderful celebration of music and creativity. The concert was an uplifting showcase of our students’ hard work and passion for the arts.

Professional Learning and Student Agency

Last week marked the culmination of our Professional Learning Communities inquiry cycle for teachers, with a showcase of the innovative strategies developed and implemented across the school across the year. Staff shared a range of approaches designed to foster greater student agency, including goal setting, metacognition, differentiation, and self-regulation.

These practices, combined with our refreshed Learner Behaviours framework, are empowering students to take greater ownership of their learning—developing independence, persistence, and a deeper understanding of how they learn best.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

In addition to the achievements on the field and stage, our students have continued to engage in enriching experiences such as the Duke of Edinburgh Camp and a range of junior and senior Geography excursions. These opportunities provide valuable real-world learning that strengthens teamwork, resilience, and curiosity about the world around them.

Year 12 Exams

Our Year 12 students commenced their final exams this week. We extend our best wishes to all of them as they complete this important milestone in their educational journey. We are proud of their dedication and perseverance throughout the year.

Upcoming Dates

A reminder that an Alternative Program will run on Cup Eve, Monday 3 November. This day traditionally experiences lower attendance, and the alternative program ensures all students who attend are engaged in purposeful and enjoyable learning activities.
