School Crossing Supervisor Nominations
Each year the City of Whittlesea ask for nominations for the School Crossing Supervisor of the Year, acknowledging the valuable contribution of the work undertaken by our school crossing supervisors. At SMCM we are lucky enough to have John on Redding Rise, on Farmhouse Blvd and we used to have Charlie on Farmhouse Blvd until her retired earlier this year. He is still eligible to be nominated though!
An award will be given to one school crossing supervisor selected for their commitment and dedication to the supervision of school crossings.
The staff member receiving the award should be able to demonstrate the following:
· Professional and great presentation (uniform and equipment),
· Working knowledge of road rules relating to school crossings,
· Welcoming, caring, and encouraging to all users of the school crossing,
· Helpful – informative and clear on correct use of the crossing, and
· Good attendance and punctuality.
If you would like to nominate one of our SMCM supervisors, forms are available and can be left at reception by THURSDAY 13TH NOVEMBER.
Galada Kindergarten Visits
Over the last couple of weeks we have warmly welcomed 4 year old kinder group students from Galada Kindergarten, as part of their 'Getting Ready for School' transition program.
The students walked with their teachers from their kinder, learning to stay together safely, hold hands with a partner and follow instructions.
Some of our Year 4, 5 and 6 leaders assisted with the sessions, reading to the students, helping them to write their name and resetting equipment ready for the next groups. These leaders did SMCM proud, setting a wonderful example for the kinder children of what it means to be an SMCM student.
The kinder children were read a story called 'Don't Eat the Teacher' about a little shark's first day of school and coloured in their own book about starting school. They explored outside and of course got to play on the playground.
We value the relationship with Galada Kindergarten and look forward to even more opportunities to work together next year.
Help Please!
We will need parent volunteers for the Sausage Sizzle at our End of Year Picnic and Carols event on Thursday 4th December. As always, volunteers' children will be given 10 raffle tickets for assisting. Keep an eye out closer to the date for the call out for volunteers. We always make sure volunteers are timed so they don't miss their own children performing in the carols.
DO YOU HAVE A BUSINESS OR CONTACT THAT COULD HELP WITH DONATIONS OF SUPPLIES FOR THE SAUSAGE SIZZLE? Bread, frozen onions, sausages, condiments, serviettes etc?
Contact kristie.hocking@smcmeppingnth.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help!
