All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day: A Time of Remembrance
On the weekend, we celebratedAll Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, two significant events in our Catholic calendar.
All Saints’ Day is celebrated on November 1st and is a Holy Day of Obligation. On this day, we honour all the saints, known and unknown, who have lived lives of faith and goodness. It reminds us that we are all called to follow their example through kindness, courage and love.
All Souls’ Day, on November 2nd, is a special time to remember and pray for all those who have died, especially our loved ones. Together, these days mark the beginning of November, the Month of Remembrance. This is when we hold close in our hearts those who have gone before us.
As a faith community, we continue to pray for the souls of the departed and to be inspired by the example of the saints in our daily lives.
Loving God,
We remember all the Saints in Heaven
who showed us how to live with kindness, courage and love.
May their example inspire us to follow Jesus
and shine Your light in our world.
We also remember all souls who have died
and are now held safely in Your care.
We think of our family members, friends and all who are missed.
Bring comfort to those who feel sad
and fill our hearts with Your peace.
Saints of God, pray for us.
May all who have died rest in Your eternal love,
and may perpetual light shine upon them.
Amen.
World Teachers’ Day Parish Mass
Last Wednesday, the schools of St Peter’s Parish; Glowrey, Carlo Acutis and St Peter’s joined us at St Mary of the Cross MacKillop for a special Parish Mass to celebrate World Teachers’ Day; a special time to honour and thank the teachers who guide, support and inspire each day.
Teaching is more than a job; it is a vocation, a calling to serve others, to share wisdom and to bring light where there is curiosity and wonder. Like Jesus, the greatest teacher, we show patience, compassion and love, helping us to see God’s presence in our learning and in one another.
It was wonderful to see staff from each school come together to connect, share a meal and participate in Mass as one faith community. The celebration was beautifully led by Father Anh and we are grateful for his thoughtful leadership. A special shout out to Aaron Jay and Michael Antony for coming straight from SMC to serve at the altar. Your presence was greatly appreciated.
