Reflecting on Term 2

As Term 2 wraps up, we celebrate our students’ achievements and the enriching activities undertaken across the school.

Our Year 7 History students explored The Ancient World, deepening their curiosity and understanding of early civilizations.

Our Year 8 students have been diving into an exciting gardening project, working together to bring long-unused garden beds back to life. In groups, they have been de-weeding, managing weeds, planting crops, and learning how to make biomes productive. This hands-on experience helps students connect with nature, understand the environment, and appreciate the amazing cycle of life. Not only is this project boosting their engagement, but it is also deepening their passion for Geography by fostering a real love for the natural world. It is wonderful to see our students actively caring for the environment and developing skills that will stay with them for life.

Year 10 History students delved into key themes of social change and civic responsibility, exploring the controversial and highly discussed topic of Changing Rights and Freedoms. Elective History students explored historical themes creatively using picture books, deepening their understanding of important events and perspectives. Meanwhile, Year 9 Geography students investigated diverse biomes and changing places, linking their study of landforms to real-world issues like sustainability and urban growth.

Our Year 12 students have been diligently preparing for their HSC, supported by teachers and peers as they consolidate their skills and knowledge ahead of the exams. In particular, History Extension students attended a valuable HSC information day, gaining targeted insights and strategies to extend their senior studies and enhance their success.in the HSC.

Reconciliation Week

In Term 2, we proudly celebrated Reconciliation Week with a special assembly focused on coming together to understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. The theme, ‘All in for Reconciliation’, was brought to life by our students who led the assembly and shared their stories. A highlight was hearing from Elder Aunty Karen, who spoke from the heart and treated us to a beautiful song. It was inspiring to see so many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students stepping up, speaking confidently, and taking on leadership roles. The event was guided by our Aboriginal teacher and team leader, Narikah, who ensured everyone felt included. A huge thank you to all who participated—in true Reconciliation spirit, the assembly was a celebration of community and courage.
