Catholic Identity & Mission News

The end of Term Two firmly sits among my topfive highlights of the school year, as our final week is marked by the celebration of St Peter’s Day. While the official Feast of St Peter and St Paul is on June 29, this date always falls during the holiday period, so we honour the occasion each year on the final Tuesday of Term Two.
The day begins with the celebration of the Eucharist across both campuses. At Cranbourne, staff and students will gather in the Hall, while at Clyde North, two Houses and our Music Ministry will come together in the Francis Building, with the remainder of the campus joining via livestream. A great deal of preparation has gone into these liturgies, particularly by our Music Ministry staff and students, and I am confident these celebrations will set a meaningful and uplifting tone for the day.
The Gospel reading for St Peter’s Day comes from Matthew’s Gospel and inspires our school motto, “Be not afraid.” It captures what we most admire in Peter as our Patron Saint. He was both courageous and impulsive, yet also humble and aware of his shortcomings. Above all, Peter was resilient, loyal and ultimately fearless—qualities that led him to become a vital leader in the early Church. As the term draws to a close and the pressures of exams and reporting are still present, Peter remains a powerful example for us. He knew fatigue, doubt and insecurity, yet by keeping his focus on Jesus, he found renewed strength. We are encouraged to do the same.
St Peter’s Day promises to be a vibrant and joyful occasion. It is a time to celebrate our Catholic identity, while also enjoying rides, activities and shared treats as a community. Importantly, all funds raised on the day will support Trinity Families—Bishop Greg’s charity—which provides assistance to a range of worthy causes.
I hope everyone enjoys a fantastic St Peter’s Day celebration and a wonderful term break when it arrives. I look forward to sharing more news with you, especially about our very recent Youth Group initiatives, when we resume in Term 3!
