Some updates about upcoming events…
Assessments
Coming into report-writing time, students will undertake a series of Literacy and Numeracy assessments to help us measure the growth they have made over the year.
Wheelchair AFL
Next week we will be participating in Wheelchair AFL clinics as part of the Sport program:
Wednesday, 6 November: 5/6M, 5/6K and 5/6D
Thursday, 7 November: 5/6I, 5/6B, 5/6C
Health Education
Our Health Ed program begins in a little over a week (Tuesday, 12 November). These sessions will run for around 1.5hours and will recur during the term so that all classes participate in 3 sessions overall. Please see Compass for more infomation and to provide consent.
Sports Trials
In the week of the 18 November, we will be running Summer Interschool Sports trials for our current Year 5 students to place them into the sports for next year.
JSC 2025 Elections
Ordinarily this process happens early in Term 1. This year we have made the decision to shift the process to Term 4 to ensure that we have our elected school leaders in place from the beginning of the school year.
On Wednesday, 20 November all current Years 4 and 5 students will meet to talk through the nomination and election process, and they will have until Friday, 29 November to sign up to nominate themselves for JSC (and School Captain for our current Year 5s). These sign-up sheets will be posted in the 5/6 Gallery.
In Week 9 (2-6 December), nominees will make a speech to their 2025 cohort and voting will take place.
If your child is interested in nominating for JSC but will be away for any of this period, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. We will be able to place their name on the nominations sign-up sheet. Should they be away for any part of Week 9, they must forward a short video to their teacher in place of a live speech to the cohort by Friday, 29 November. We will be unable to accommodate late submissions.
Warm regards,
