Wagga Wagga Christian College joined students from a number of other schools in the Riverina for the 2024 Dramatic Minds Festival held online last week. Currently in its 15th year, the event moved from face-to-face to online last year to make it more accessible to schools across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
Entries included artworks, photography, drama, short films and dance all exploring mental health, alcohol and other drug topics from the perspective of the students.
Wagga Christian College had 7 entries from students ranging from Year 7 to Year 10.
In the photography section, Lily Harrison (Year 9) was awarded first prize for her painting titled “Sightless Silence”.
Congratulations to Leo Wang (Year 9), whose painting “Torment” was awarded overall best entry for 2024.
Judges look at the artistic merit of the presentation, the standard of the comment on mental health, and the impact from the point of view of someone who has had a lived experience of mental illness.
Congratulations Lily and Leo for your contributions to taking the drama out of mental health!
