Year 9 Careers

Term 4 Week 3, 2024

In week 3, Year 9 students participated in a careers session with special guest Stacey Suidgeest from the Regional Industry Education Partnership (RIEP). Stacey is the lead organiser for a range of vocational pathway programs that our students across Years 9-12 regularly engage in throughout the year.

Programs include:

  • Made for a Trade
  • Girls Can Too
  • Trade Readiness
  • Try a Trade Day
  • Ag Industry Day
  • Eyes Wide Open
  • Ag Vision
  • Be a Health Hero, and more

Many of our students have gained employment and further training opportunities through such programs and we are delighted to partner with RIEP to facilitate such wonderful opportunities for our students!

Year 9 had a session outlining the many programs coming up next year for them and also had a Q&A session with Stacey that was very insightful and helpful. They are looking forward to upcoming opportunities next year.

One of the key messages Stacey had for students was to go and find out about different occupations, and never write off the option for working in a specific industry until they have done their research, as there are so many jobs that students (and some adults) don’t even know exist! She also encouraged students to make the most of their Year 10 Work Experience next year!
