Fernbank Fun

Alex Cole OG23 popped in and said Hello to the Staff and Boarders in week 2. Alex and Taylor (Yr 11) caught up and went out to dinner together. It was lovely to see the connection between our girls even beyond leaving the Boarding House and community.

Tivoli Fun

Some very competitive games of Spot It have occurred through Tivoli this week, with Gappy Eleanor explaining that in Britain it is called Dobble.

Lately, the Year 7s and Year 9s have been engrossed in lively matches of the classic board game Game of Life, navigating their paths through quirky careers and unexpected twists with enthusiasm and laughter!

Where are they now?

Alex Cole - Graduated Yr 12 - 2023

What was your favourite memory from your time in Boarding?

My favourite memory at Kambala Boarding was the final weeks leading up to graduation and the HSC. The whole year would rush to recess, lunch and dinner just to play as many games of UNO as possible. Something about it being the final and most stressful weeks of our formal schooling lives made us look forward to these small rituals and allowed us to shut out the noisy background for a few minutes. In these final weeks we also planned our Boarding 'muck up day'. We blew up what felt like thousands of balloons and filled the hallways with them.

What did you do after finishing school and what are you currently studying?

After finishing my time at Kambala, I went to university. I am currently studying a double degree of Law and Medical Science at Macquarie University, which I love even if it's a little stressful.

How do you feel your time at Kambala has helped you as an adult?

My time as a Boarder has certainly made me more independent which has helped me in life post high school.

Prep

There has been a lot of exam preparation with Year 7 and 8 both starting their exams this week. Revision has included a variety of topics ranging from  food chains for year 7 science, tricky geography skills in mapping, navigation to continents for year 8 geography.

Well done to Year 7 for successfully completing their final exam last Thursday, wrapping up with a challenging Latin test!

Some of our Year 8 have handed in their very interesting tech portfolio projects that they have been working on consistently for several weeks.

Year 9 have started preparation for their upcoming exams with studying and note making  to ensure they’re ready to do their best.

In Year 11, Ava and Vy have kicked off their IB mock exams, demonstrating incredible dedication and hard work as they tackle this important milestone in a two year course.
