Congratulations to all teams on their sportsmanship, teamwork, and commitment in our Round 1 ISA matches. It was great to see everyone bringing their best to the games, and we’re eager to build on these efforts throughout the season.
Training and Game Attendance
A huge thank you to the players who consistently attend training and games. As a reminder, any absences due to illness, injury, or significant commitments should be logged on Clipboard to ensure accurate records and to help us manage the program effectively. Attendance is key to your son's development and team growth.
Uniform Expectations
A reminder for all players about uniforms: please ensure you have the correct SPX Basketball shorts and singlet, available for purchase from the Uniform Shop. It was disappointing to see some players arriving in casual clothing on game day. All players must wear their SPX-branded uniform when traveling to and from and during games—no Crocs, white t-shirts, hoodies or non-uniform track pants. This uniformity reflects our pride in representing the College and sets a positive, professional tone. Players may risk missing games if they choose not to follow this expectation.
Upcoming Fixtures
Please check Clipboard for fixtures, which will be confirmed during the week as details are received. Fixture changes can occur late in the week, so ensure notifications are enabled to stay updated. Above is the snapshot fixture table.
Round 3 Bathurst Trip
As we prepare for Round 3 several teams will be travelling to Bathurst on Saturday, 9th November, a reminder that all players are expected to attend this game, unless a valid reason like illness or injury prevents them. To assist families, we’ve arranged a bus option for five teams, with staff and coaches accompanying the players. This option offers a more affordable travel solution and helps build community within SPX Basketball. A registration link for the bus will be shared via Clipboard soon for those who wish to sign up.
Home and Away Calendar - Updated
The updated HOME and AWAY Calendar (attached below) provides a snapshot of the current schedule for upcoming games. Please note that this is a DRAFT and has been updated this week. It is subject to changes as we receive updates from opposition convenors. All confirmed game details, including any adjustments, will be communicated through Clipboard. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as the season progresses!

ISA Cricket
1st XI Cricket v Oxley College
1st XI – 7 wickets for 266 (Ollie Freeman 155, Luke Austin 36) defeated Oxley College – 10 wickets for 81 (Lucas Gleeson 5 for 29, Charlie Chippendale 2 for 1)
The 1st XI began the ISA competition with a very good performance at Oxford Falls against Oxley College. Having won the toss and deciding to bat, the 1st XI posted an imposing 7 for 266 after 50 overs; then bowled the opposition out for 81 in 38 overs. Captain, Oliver Freeman, played a brilliant innings full of timing and placement compiling 155 from 134 balls and Lucas Gleeson captured 5 wickets for 29 in his 8 overs. A good all-round team.
Opening batters Toby Moran and Rohan Chang put on a solid 33 run stand; Darcy Horstead looked settled in his innings and stepped-up as wicket keeper to give his skipper a deserved break. Luke Austin put on 89 with the captain while hitting cleanly; Zachary Rapa was involved in a 83 run partnership in his initial 1st XI competition innings; Charlie Chippendale, also on debut, took the last two wickets to fall and a catch; Lachlan Jurcevic and Jared Fernandes took a wicket each while being economical with the ball; Flynn Mansbridge conceded just 4 runs in a very tight 6-over spell; and Alex Burke in his first 1st XI competition appearance took a wicket in an impressive spell and a catch. Congratulations to the two stand-out performers on their outstanding achievements but also to each team member for their important contributions.
2nd XI – 0 wickets for 136 (Alessio Spillane 68*, Archie Wragge 51*) defeated Central Coast Grammar School – 10 wickets for 133 (Dan Carrol 4 for 15, Brody Mendel 3 for 5, Harry Arnold 2 for 23)

Summer Tennis
NSTA
What an amazing day we had for the start of the Term 4 competition. Although a little chilly at first, it was perfect weather for tennis. With so many new players to tennis this term you could really feel a buzz in the air. All teams showed great sportsmanship and played their best.
In the 8:00 am matches, Paolo Mirenzi (SPX 18) played a very close match, just narrowly losing against Ines Tan from Redlands, 5-6. It was a great match to watch. My favourite matches to watch are always the Pius v Pius matches. Two teams made up of Junior School players who have just moved up from green ball both fought a good fight with Samuel Nunes and Xavier Korkor (SPX 26) beating Kairav Singh and Wesley Lum (SPX 25) 2 sets to 1. Thanks to Mrs Nunes for the great photo of these teams!
The 10:00 am matches always seem quite serious and this week was no exception. Ben Shoudra and Kody Tabalon (SPX 4) were in great form and beat Redlands 6, 3 sets to 0. Linas Magyla and Lachlan Chan (SPX 8) followed suit only conceding 1 game, to win all 3 sets against Killara High. Henry Bourke and Bryce Davis (SPX 9) made a great team and won both singles matches to clinch the win against SPX 10. Ryan Chung and Max Lei also had a great start to the season with a 3 set win against SPX 15.
A special thanks needs to be given to Jake and Lachlan Yu who, despite not playing this term, came to the 8:00 am sessions to help out. What great spirit these young men showed. I know that the younger players appreciated their help.
GREEN BALL
Our inaugural green ball competition at Queenwood also began last weekend. This is a great opportunity for many of players to have a chance to hone their skills in a very relaxed and friendly environment. It is great that the staff at Queenwood Tennis Centre were also their to lend a hand and offer some on the spot advice to the players. All players are to be congratulated on the enthusiasm shown in their matches.
SENIOR SCHOOL TRAINING
A reminder that training continues this week. Please make sure that you attend the training session that you have been allocated. Parents, this is also a reminder that you need to be at Queenwood for pick up by 5:00 pm.

On Friday 8 November the College has its first invitational carnival hosted by St Patrick's College. It will be at Ryde Aquatic centre starting at 7.00pm. Swimmers need to attend the sports meeting on Friday to find out more details regarding the carnival.
School Swimming Squad Training – Term 4, 2024
Students who were part of the Swimming Squads and participated in carnivals earlier this year are invited to train in the swimming squad. I also encourage any students looking to improve their fitness or aiming to represent at the ISA level in 2025 to join the squad. To build a strong squad culture, participants are expected to attend the majority of the 10 training sessions. Either Ms Proc (Senior Swimming Convenor) or Mr Bourke will be present at each session.
