Screen Smart Series - Free parent webinar

Tuesday 29 October 

The Friends' School has purchased a whole school licence for the "Screen Smart Series" seminars with Dr Justin Coulson. All staff and parents have FREE access to this online event at 7.00pm on Tuesday 29 October. The event consists of a 40-minute presentation and about 20 minutes of question time. Dr Justin Coulson will discuss actionable strategies for parents and caregivers to navigate the digital landscape safely and effectively. From setting healthy screen time limits to fostering open communication about online risks, empowering our children to navigate the digital world responsibly is critical to ensuring their safety online and protecting their well-being.  Please register your details to receive the viewing link and email reminders for the event by accessing this link. If you are unable to join the seminar live, you will be able to access the recording using the same link for 14 days.

Parent Information Session - Texas Music Trip Opportunity, July 2025

Tuesday 22 October at 5.15pm

In July 2025, we are offering students who play a wind, brass or percussion (orchestral) instrument the opportunity to attend the summer music school, hosted by A and M University in West Texas.  This will be for students from Years 7-12 in 2025.

Here is a link to the West Texas university webpage. This will provide you with some information from this year's camp. 

 

Members of our school community are invited to attend an information session about the planned music trip to West Texas in July 2025.

 

The information evening will be held on Tuesday 22 October at 5.15pm and will be in the Sheila Give Music Centre, located on the Senior School Campus (Commercial Road).

Year 8 Gymnastics Program 

Starting Week 3 in Term 4 

Year 8 students will complete three lessons of Gymnastics at Kingborough Gymsports within their PE lessons. These lessons will enhance strength, coordination and balance through a variety of fun activities using specialist equipment. All sessions will be coached by qualified Gymnastics instructors. 

 

Students will travel to and from Kingborough Gymsports by bus and will need to wear their PE uniform, bring a drink bottle and warm clothes.

Art Club

Do you love Art and want to develop techniques and creative thinking? The group offers students the opportunity to extend their art making practice in a number of forms which include but is not limited to: drawing, paint, photography and sculpture skills. Materials are provided, come and enjoy a stimulating pursuit with people who love Art. Students from Years 7 to 12 who would like to join co-curricular Visual Arts, should contact Luke Edmunds.  

 

When - The group starts in Term 4 - Friday 18 Oct | 7:30am - 8:25am
