Facilities News:

We have just finished one major building project - Yaluk and installed the Mega swing which is a big hit with the secondary students, and now we have two smaller projects  that had their first meetings last week.

Soundproof meeting space: Meeting Room 1 has been designated as the space where the Social Worker and other practitioners can meet with students and families in total privacy. We have been given funds to make the room totally sound proof so outside noise does not disturb the occupants and vice versa.

The work is due to commence about 18th November and will take a week to complete.  As Meeting Room 1 is just inside the main door to the school there may be some disruption in the Reception area. Please be prepared for some disruption during that week.

Fences & Playgrounds - Schools Upgrade Fund (SUF)

As mentioned earlier in the year we were successful in gaining a $884,000 grant to replace the cyclone wire perimeter fences, fix some drainage in playgrounds and recover the play surface on two playgrounds. We also hope to establish an the outdoor gym - the previous equipment had passed its "use by" date and replacement part were no longer available.

The school met with the appointed architects last week and provided detailed commentary as we toured the school. As we dodged the burst of rain, the architects gained first hand knowledge where there were drainage issues.  We discussed the challenges of completing work on site when students were in attendance and our preference for work to happen during school holidays wherever possible.  During this planning stage the school will be meeting fortnightly with the architects and VSBA.
