Graduate Outcome Awards
Last week we celebrated students who displayed the Graduate Outcome of FAITH. These students received a Graduate Outcome Award.
Students who graduate from St Therese’s Primary School are people of FAITH, who develop a relationship with God.
For the next few weeks, staff will continue to be on the lookout for students who display the Graduate Outcome of WISDOM.
Grade 5 Informative Posters
In Grade 5 we have been inquiring into living things and the habitats they live in. Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about various structural and behavioural adaptations that living things have in order to be able to survive. As a way of showcasing our knowledge and learning, we connected to the author Philip Bunting and used his texts for inspiration. Presented here are some of our informative posters sharing key learnings and adaptations of the animal we chose. We hope you enjoy and learn something new!
Magnify Sandhurst - OCHRE
Planning knowledge-rich curriculum, learner activities and assessments is a repeatable process that is an inefficient use of teachers’ time. Providing low-variance curriculum to CESL teachers ensures that the relevant curriculum is addressed, that activities and assessments are meaningful and quality assured, and that teachers can free valuable head-space and heart-space to respond to individual student needs. CESL have partnered with OCHRE Education to implement a quality low-variance curriculum across a variety of learning areas.
From the beginning of 2025, Grades 3-6 will access OCHRE for English and Mathematics. Foundation to Grade 2 will experiment with OCHRE in Semester 1 Mathematics before fully implementing it in Semester 2.
All staff are currently participating in a series of OCHRE training and information sessions and we’re expecting a large delivery of OCHRE-aligned novels in November.
Magnify Sandhurst - InitiaLit
Literacy is recognised as one of the most essential building blocks of learner growth. St Therese's and CESL are committed to evidence-informed practice, and will implement a system-wide Structured Literacy Approach in line with the recommendations of the Grattan Report ‘The Reading Guarantee’. In 2025, Foundation to Grade 2 will be implementing InitiaLit. From MultiLit, InitiaLit is an evidence-based whole-class literacy program which will provide all children with the essential core knowledge and strong foundations to become successful readers and writers.
By the end of the year, 15 staff members will be trained in InitiaLit, ready to implement for Day 1 2025. Last week, we received a large delivery of InitiaLit resources. These will help to ensure that St Therese's is ready for full implementation by the beginning of the 2025 school year.
Sports Report
SSV STATE NETBALL
At the end of last term, our Boys/Mixed netball team went to the Waverley Centre in Melbourne to compete in the SSV State Netball Championships. Winning all 3 games in our pool earned us a spot in the semi-final against Croydon Park. In a tightly contested final both teams were tied at full time having to go into overtime. Unfortunately, Croydon Park proved too strong on the day and went on to win the championships.
We are very proud of this team for making it this far and coming 3rd in the state for netball is a tremendous achievement. An awesome effort by Cale P, Xavier M, Levi B, Jye Mac, Jack H, Riley C, Quinn C, Jesse C, Callen H, Piper C, Macaila B.
