Lord,
I give thanks for the people who are my home:
we share a place to shelter;
we share our food;
we share our times of work and play and rest;
we share our lives.
We make this prayer to You in the name of Jesus, the Lord.
Amen.
Advent is the season that precedes Christmas and begins on the 1st of December. It varies in length from 22-28 days. The word “Advent” derives from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming.” During this season Catholics enter a time of hopeful anticipation and joyful preparation for the celebration of Christmas. Advent and Christmas offer us the opportunity to prayerfully commemorate the birth of Jesus, to become more aware of God’s presence in our everyday lives and to reflect on the second coming of Jesus at the end of time.
Kindergarten have been exploring the wonder and beauty of God’s creation. Their unit of work this term presents creation as God’s gift to God’s people and a reflection of God’s goodness. They have been writing prayers of praise for creation and commitment to care for it are introduced as ways of responding to this gift. The story of Noah and the Ark is presented. It tells of the renewal of creation and God’s promise of continued blessing on the whole of creation throughout time. We had Fr Sabu visit last week and the students sang a song about Noah and his ark to him.
