Year 6

Hello from 6P

In Term 4, during our science unit, 6P has been learning about energy sources and the process of transforming energy into electricity. The class investigated electrical circuits by creating diagrams of closed circuits and playing an interactive game called Circuit Maze. Using batteries and alligator clips, they experimented with various materials to identify conductors and insulators.

They also explored how solar panels work by learning how sunlight is converted into electrical energy. Cells in the solar panel absorb sunlight and release electrons, creating an electric current. The class learnt that this current can be used to power devices or stored in batteries for later use. They conducted experiments to see how factors like shading and panel angle affect energy production. Through these activities, they discovered how solar panels are a clean and renewable energy source.

The class had fun putting together solar kits. They spent time outside and in different types of light seeing how the solar panel would be impacted in shade.
