School Council Fundraising Report
Dear Princes Hill Community
As another year draws to a close, here’s an update from School Council and our Fun(d)raising Committee. Thank you all for showing your support by turning up and having fun!
2025 Focus
For those who have been to the school recently, you may have seen that the building works for the basketball courts have commenced. After attending real-life Utopia episodes for years, this is finally happening! School Council would like to encourage you to contribute to our ‘Groundbreaking Fundraiser’ to support the extensive expenditure the school is making on this project and other built environment maintenance and improvement projects in the pipeline. Our target is $150,000 by the end of 2025. You can either make tax-deductible donations or organise a weekend away and rent one (or all) of the Mirimbah houses; for more details, please go here or contact Isabel JohnsonI@phsc.vic.edu.au Every contribution is deeply appreciated.
2024 Achievements and Thanks
Trivia Night – Supporting School Camps
In October 2024 as we became aware of the genuine need for our school community to help out, we had a fabulous Trivia Night to support the camps program in every way possible. Congratulations to the winning table and to all the participants, it was a fantastic, very sociable and fun night.
Thanks to Dave O’Neill for making us laugh, to everyone who penned questions, to all the donations for the silent auction, and all the helping hands to set up the silent and the ticketing, prepare the library, sling drinks at the bar, schlepp ice, tables, chairs, make posters, prepare cheese platters, vacuum up cracker crumbs afterward, and for showing up! It takes a village to run a Trivia night!
Overall, our fun Trivia Night raised about $12,000 that will go towards the school’s camp programs.
School Toilets Fun(d)raising
You may remember that we held the I GIVE A CRAP Trivia Night at the end of 2023, followed by a movie night showing in 2024, to raise funds to improve the toilet situation at Princes Hill. Together these events raised about $12,000 and a lot of fun! Thanks again to all who helped and attended.
The school has applied for a grant to fully renovate some of the oldest (and saddest) school toilets. To be eligible for that grant, the school needed to demonstrate its fundraising efforts for the cause. We have used some funds raised for urgent cosmetic works in the girl's toilets. The remainder is set aside in the hope that we get the grant and can use it for some great new toilet spaces – fingers crossed, we have yet to hear back from the VSBA.
Other events
The school had multiple other great initiatives to raise funds, including concerts, student council dinners, bake sales, and many more. We are lucky to have such a lively and enthusiastic cohort of students, teachers, and parents, and grateful for all the hard work that has gone into every single one of these events.
We encourage you to keep an eye out in 2025 for events – to either jump in and help organize or to rock up, be part of it, and help raise much-needed fun(ds).
If you are an interested student or parent/guardian and wish to join the Fun(d)raising Committee, please contact Francisca on 0403 800 747 or call office reception. We predict that you’ll enjoy connecting with our community network as much as we have.
On behalf of the School Council Fun(d)raising Committee Wishing you all a great summer break.
Francisca Hoffmann-Axthelm
(School Council President)
