Celebrating the Success of Get Lost in Art

What an incredible night we had for this year’s art show, Get Lost in Art! A huge congratulations to all our talented students for their creativity, hard work, and dedication throughout the year. It was truly inspiring to see the joy and pride on their faces as they showcased their artworks to family and friends.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing parent helpers, Jaci, Greg, and Nat. Your tireless efforts and enthusiasm played a significant role in making this event such a success. Thank you for your time, energy, and unwavering support.

To my fellow teachers and staff, thank you for lending a hand in every way possible—whether it was helping students prepare, assisting with setup, or simply being there to cheer everyone on. Your encouragement and collaboration mean the world.

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the event, I’ve attached links to digital photographs of many of the artworks displayed. While I do my absolute best to capture as many pieces as I can, as the art show approaches and the workload increases, my focus often shifts to curating and setting up the show itself. I hope you understand that not every artwork may be photographed, but I’ve worked to include as much as possible within the time constraints.

A Farewell to Sunshine Heights Community

As this year draws to a close, so does my incredible journey at Sunshine Heights Primary School. Over the past eight years, this community has become a second home to me. I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the families who have entrusted me with teaching and guiding their children. It has been a privilege to watch your kids grow, flourish, and express themselves through art.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your trust, and the strong relationships we’ve built over the years. I am so proud of everything we’ve achieved together, whether it was through the collaborative murals, our sustainability projects, or the art shows that brought the community together.

I leave Sunshine Heights with a full heart, carrying cherished memories and friendships that I know will last beyond the school gates. While this is goodbye for now, I hope to cross paths with many of you in the future.

Thank you for being part of my journey and for making my time here so unforgettable.

Performing Arts

I am incredibly proud of the students and their hard work leading up to the concert event. Their efforts and talents were clearly showcased, and it was truly a joy to see them perform so confidently and enthusiastically.

It’s always inspiring to witness the growth and dedication of our students, and this concert was a wonderful reflection of their commitment and creativity. I’m sure you’ll agree that the event was a memorable celebration of both their individual and collective achievements.

Physical Education

STEM

As we wrap up the second year of our STEM program, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible school community for embracing STEM with such enthusiasm and curiosity. Every student should be immensely proud of their learning and achievements in STEM this year—it has been truly inspiring to witness their growth. From making rainbows to extracting DNA from a strawberry - we've done it all! Check out the photos below for what we have gotten up to in 2024. I look forward to another fantastic year in 2025.

If you get the chance, check out some planets that will be visible this month:

Venus is bright as the ‘evening star’ visible from around 9pm in the west before setting by 11:30pm.

Mars is heading to opposition (directly opposite the Sun) and will be easily seen in the north-east from 1am early in the month, from 12:30am mid-month, and from 11:30pm late December. It will fade in the early dawn light by 5:30am.

Jupiter is visible from 9pm in the north-east. It will move across the northern sky before fading in the north-west by 4:30am.

Saturn, faint and yellowish, will be seen from 9.20pm in the north-west until it sets by 1am.

Spanish

Hola familias,

As we wrap up another school year, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of my students’ dedication to learning Spanish. Watching their enthusiasm during the different Spanish games and activities, seeing them so engaged in our Spanish Fiesta and hearing their Spanish skills blossom has been the highlight of my year. ¡Buen trabajo a todos!

I also have some news to share. I will not be returning to school next year as I will be taking Long Service Leave in Term 1 and Maternity Leave for the rest of the year. During this time, I am looking forward to spending precious time with my very close auntie, who will be visiting all the way from Spain, and after that, my husband and I will be preparing to welcome our new addition to the family. Very exciting!

I wish all of you a beautiful Christmas and a joyful, relaxing summer holiday!
