Nude Food

Sustainability Group

Something exciting is just around the corner – Nude Food Day on October 25th, 2023! It's a day where we come together to make a difference, not just for ourselves but for our environment as well.

So, what is Nude Food Day, you may ask?

Nude Food Day is all about going "nude" with our food. But don't worry; we're not talking about wearing our birthday suits to school! Instead, we're talking about stripping away something else – the unnecessary packaging around our food.

It's a day when we challenge ourselves to pack lunches that are free from disposable packaging – no plastic wrappers, no foil, and no plastic bags. We're embracing the idea of 'nude' food, which means healthier lunches with less waste.

Now, you might wonder why we're doing this.

  • Firstly, Nude Food Day is a way for us to do our part in reducing waste. We all know how much plastic and packaging ends up in landfills, harming our beautiful planet. By packing nude food, we can make a small but important contribution to reducing waste.
  • Secondly, Nude Food Day encourages us to eat healthily. When we focus on packing fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade snacks instead of packaged treats, we're not just helping the environment; we're also taking care of our bodies.
  • Lastly, Nude Food Day raises awareness about sustainability. It reminds us that the choices we make can have a big impact on our world, and it's a great opportunity to learn more about how we can be responsible global citizens.

So, how can each one of us participate?

It's simple. On October 25th, if you can, pack your lunch with as little disposable packaging as possible. Use reusable containers, wrap sandwiches in beeswax wraps, and bring a refillable water bottle. Get creative with your lunch ideas, and let's see who can come up with the most imaginative nude food lunch!

Remember, you're not alone in this. Your teachers and friends are doing it too, and together, we can make Nude Food Day a huge success.

In closing, I want to say that it's moments like Nude Food Day that make me incredibly proud to be a part of Port Melbourne Primary School. Together, we're not just shaping our own future; we're making a brighter future for our planet.

Thank you, and let's make October 25th a day to remember!
