What's happening in the Social and Emotional Learning classes?

This term in 'Respectful Relationships' the Y3 and Y4 students have been writing an 8-page book for younger students, to help them learn how to cope with a challenge which produces a negative emotion such as anger, fear, sadness or loneliness. 

 

The students had to think up situations involving change or a challenge that younger children might experience and find challenging to deal with. 

 

Students were given a story board template and had to have:

  1. An introduction to the character;
  2. A description of the challenge or upsetting situation;
  3. Their emotional reaction;
  4. Their bodily reaction to what has upset them;
  5. An action they used that did not work;
  6. A help-seeking action that did work and; 
  7. How they carried out the advice, and; 
  8. The happier ending.

We will be reading the printed copies to the preps in Term 4.  Here are a few fine examples of their work:
