What's happening in the Social and Emotional Learning classes?
This term in 'Respectful Relationships' the Y3 and Y4 students have been writing an 8-page book for younger students, to help them learn how to cope with a challenge which produces a negative emotion such as anger, fear, sadness or loneliness.
The students had to think up situations involving change or a challenge that younger children might experience and find challenging to deal with.
Students were given a story board template and had to have:
- An introduction to the character;
- A description of the challenge or upsetting situation;
- Their emotional reaction;
- Their bodily reaction to what has upset them;
- An action they used that did not work;
- A help-seeking action that did work and;
- How they carried out the advice, and;
- The happier ending.
We will be reading the printed copies to the preps in Term 4. Here are a few fine examples of their work:
