Kinder - Year 2 Classes

This term has been filled with lots of events and memories being made all around the school. In the Lower Primary classes teachers and students have been buzzing around like busy bees.

Our Early Years classes participated in events such as Arts Festival, The Athletics Carnival, Science Week and Book Week. Recently, I walked around the Early Years Classrooms to find out more from the students. I asked them “What was your favourite thing from Term 3? And What did you enjoy learning about in class this term?”. This is what they had to say:

  • "My favourite thing is playing outside at lunch, I can see my sister Ella. I liked moving to another Kinder room.” - Sophie (Kindergarten)
  • "Playing on the Playground and working in school.” - Ava-May (Kindergarten)
  • “The Athletics Carnival” - Ishreet (Prep)
  • “We learn the vowel family. C goes with a, o, u and K goes with the other 2.” - Ariel (Prep)

I would like to say a very big welcome to Michelle, who will be joining the Mount Carmel College Community as the Early Learning for 3 Year Olds-Lead Educator. Michelle is experienced and Diploma qualified in Education and Care services. She is really keen to get to know the staff, children and families at Mount Carmel College. Please introduce yourself if you see Michelle around the school!

Term 3 has been full of ELC preparations and it is not slowing down yet! Over the final two weeks of term, the ELC Team and I will be working hard to prepare the program and classroom environment for our first day on Tuesday 17 October when we welcome our 3 and 4-year-olds into our Early Learning space.

We still have spots available. If you or someone you know has a child who is 3 Years Old (Pre-Kinder age) enquire with us today via emailing info@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au. We would love to hear from you!

Learning for Life

This Term, our Learning for Life program has offered a range of experiences that help support child development. We explored gross motor, creative problem solving, storytelling/roleplay and social skills. Our families and educators recently made their first trip out and about in the community and met for one of their weekly sessions at Libraries Tasmania in Hobart city.

Keep your eyes on our website and social media pages to find out what we have planned for Term 4.
