A Shout Out From Canberra
As you read this we are in the final days of what has been an absolutely amazing school trip with our Year 6 cohort. This trip has afforded our students so many opportunities mixing together a blend of fun and educational experiences. As you can imagine Canberra’s rich and unique history, culture and political significance has filled our time and enhanced a sense of community amongst this group of students and staff.
From the impressive Australian War Memorial where we were able to pay our respects to Australian soldiers and take part in the poignant Last Post ceremony on the first day, to today where we will visit Parliament House. This part of our trip reminds us about the history of democracy, and the role of the government in what is an iconic and architecturally sublime building.
In between has been a mixture of colour, sustainability, spiritual, physical, contemplative and joy as we have traversed the roads of Canberra going from the art galleries and museums, to the National Botanical Gardens, The Canberra Mosque, ANZAC Parade, AIS, playgrounds and so much more.
The trip has been made possible by so many - from the Year 6 parents and carers who gave permission for their daughter to travel, to the amazing Mount Carmel staff both on the trip or back at home. Thank you to all who have been involved.
Tournament of Minds
On Saturday 9 September four Primary teams participated in the Tournament of Minds State Final and congratulations to MCC Marches for being awarded second place. The interplay of teamwork, imagination, creativity and spontaneity was impressive. The students performed beautifully and were a credit to the College. Thank you to all students, staff and parents/carers who played a part in preparing the students for this experience - it could not have been done without you.
Farewell
At the end of next week we farewell Mrs Anna Cazaly, who has worked tirelessly across many year groups within the Primary to spread her love of learning. Thank you Anna for all your hard work, the joy you bring to those students who you work with and your deep passion for education.
Footy Colours Day
Although the Melbourne Demons were unceremoniously dumped from the AFL finals campaign, we will still celebrate all things AFL/NRL/Soccer etc. On the last day of Term 3 all students from Kinder - Year 10 will participate in Footy Colours Day with a gold coin donation required. All money raised will go to the Archbishop’s Samaritan Fund.
Thank you
This is the final correspondence via The View this term and I would just like to say thank you for taking an interest in and working with us in the Primary School. It has been such a busy term and below is just a snapshot of some of the opportunities and experiences that your children have had over the course of the term.
It is important to note that this does not touch upon the important learning and education your son or daughter has been involved in.
Great applause to all involved for the commitment and resourcing on what is small but dedicated staff.
