Lighthouse Keepers Excursion

On Monday, 23 October, the Lighthouse Keepers had an exciting excursion to ACMI to compliment the current Unit of Inquiry under the theme; How We Express Ourselves, which has a focus on stories, and will culminate in some wonderful playmaking. The children have collected data from the Biggies at Arlington about how they enjoy stories, and so it was off to ACMI to see the exhibition, 'New Worlds and Special Places' which included a workshop where the children learned even more about storytelling.

The children saw an episode of Bluey and Little Jay and Big Cuz, which sparked discussions about storytelling, feelings, and meaning. In pairs, the children got to design an obstacle course which was inspired by Jay's "deadly" obstacle course he created for his own TV show.

The children had a break for lunch at Birrarung Marr, then returned to explore ACMI's permanent exhibition, where the children used their 'lens device' to collect data and interact with the exhibits. It was an enriching and fun-filled day of learning and discovery. The children had a blast!

The journey began by taking a ride to Auburn station on the school buses with Cress and Rob as our drivers! From there, the group hopped on a train and headed to Flinders Street Station. A big thank you to parents Roisin and Lucia for volunteering their time and supporting the Lighthouse Keepers.
